  • Family: Papalionaceae
  • Protein conten in moong is 24g /100 g (Highest among pulses).

Climate

  • Green gram requires hot climate.
  • It requires an average annual rainfall of 600-800 mm.
  • Best suited temperature for crop growth is between 25-32°C.
  • It can tolerate drought to a great extent.
  • It is a day neutral plant.
  • It is considered to be the hardiest pulse among all pulse crops.
  • Seed rate: 12-15 kg/ha
  • Spacing: 40 cm × 10 cm

    • PDM-1, 3, 11, Pusa baisakhi, JM-721, Malviya Jyoti, Pusa 9531, Pragya, K-851, Pusa-16.
