Prime Ministers Research Fellowship (PMRF)

👉🏻 The fellowship you will get per month including HRA, subject to candidate’s satisfactory performance.

  • Apart from this, each Fellow would be eligible for a research grant of ₹ 2 Lakhs per year (total of Rs 10 Lakhs for five years).
  • This is the highest amount of scholership you will get whose some part is contributer by governemnt and other by sponsering industries.
  • As the industry sector is involved, you will be required to produce No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your PMRF granting institute.
  • You should be a full time PhD persuing student in India.
  • Industries also provide laboratory facilities to the students.
  • The industries also expect some benifits from the research therefore the research would be of industrial relavance only.
  • You can apply under Broad area 05: Biomedical Engineering, Biological Sciences and Agricultural Sciences. Sub areas include (but not limited to):

Eligibility

  1. For Direct Entry: Completed or pursuing the final year of 2 year M.Sc Programme with CGPA/CPI of at least 8.0 (on a 10-point scale).
  2. Lateral Entry: The candidate should have completed at least four courses in the PhD programme (within 12 months), each of which should be a full-semester course, and obtained aggregate CGPA of 8.5 (out of 10) or higher. Only full subject courses are considered; General courses such as Seminar, Communication Skill, Research Methodology etc are not considered as full subject courses.
  • Students should apply for Ph.D. programme in one the PMRF granting institutes and get selected in the programme.
  • The PMRF granting institute, which has admitted the student in the Ph.D. programme makes a strong recommendation, and uploads the relevant information at the PMRF web-portal. Student can only get admission in those institutes where he/she has got selected and wishes to seek admission (i.e., selection in one institute and availing PMRF from another institute which does not support the student for PMRF will not be allowed).
  • The metrics on which the candidates will be judged will include (but not restricted to): research exposure, publications, performance in international competitions (like Math. Olympiad, ACM ICPC Programming Contest), grades and recommendation letters.
  • Within 12-18 months of admission into the PhD programme, the progress of the candidate will be reviewed by the PMRF panel, and continuation of PMRF will be subject to candidate’s satisfactory performance.
  • You have to submit a strong research proposal which is significantly important to the society. A clear assessment from the host institution in support of continuation of PMRF status. Due weightage would be given to publication in reputed journals/conferences.

UGC-NET

  • For the first two year of your PhD you will get ₹ 31,000 per month.
  • Afterwards, you will get ₹ 35,000 per month.

CSIR-NET

  • For the first two year of your PhD you will get ₹ 31,000 per month.
  • Afterwards, you will get ₹ 35,000 per month.

ICAR-SRF

  • For the first two year of your PhD you will get ₹ 31,000 per month.
  • Afterwards, you will get ₹ 35,000 per month.

ICMR

  • For the first two year of your PhD you will get ₹ 31,000 per month.
  • Afterwards, you will get ₹ 35,000 per month.

Inspire Fellowship

  • For the first two year of your PhD you will get ₹ 31,000 per month.
  • Afterwards, you will get ₹ 35,000 per month.

Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship

  • It is only for SC and ST students.
  • For the first two year of your PhD you will get ₹ 31,000 per month.
  • Afterwards, you will get ₹ 35,000 per month.

Maulana Azad National Fellowship

  • This is only minority communities in India (Jain, Christan, Parshi, Sikh, Buddhist & Muslim).
  • You will get ₹ 25,000 to ₹ 28,000 per month.
