About the Exam
- NET means NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY TEST
- It is a
qualifying examination
for determining eligibility for the position of Lecturer/Assistant Professor in the State Agricultural Universities (SAUs) and other Agricultural Universities (AUs). Candidates clearing the National Eligibility Test will be eligible to apply for the post of Lecturers or Assistant Professors in the SAUs/AUs. - Exam is conducted by Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB)
- Generally ASRB conduct a combined examination for NET, Subject Matter Specialist (SMS), Senior Technical Officer (STO) & Agriculture Research Service (ARS) in Online computer based (CBT) mode in a staggered slot-wise examination format.
- Out of which NET is only
one stage

Eligibility
- Possess a
Masterβs degree
or equivalent in the respective Discipline and specialization completed on or before 30th September. - That means candidates in their last year of MSc are also eligible to apply for this examination.
- Degree must be from any Indian University incorporated by an Act of Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or he/she must have qualification from a foreign University recognized as equivalent eligibility qualification by the Government of India (GoI).
- A candidate must have attained the age of
21 years
as on 1st January. There is no upper age limit. - There is no restriction on number of attempts for appearing in this exam.
Pattern of the Exam
- The online examination will be conducted in the designated Centres/cities at single or multiple venues.
- The questions of the Examination will be available in bilingual form i.e. in Hindi and English medium. The applicants will have to indicate their medium of Examination in the online application form itself.
- In case of any discrepancy between English and Hindi versions of the English version will be treated as final.

- Each year ASRB releases the notification on it’s Website (http://www.asrb.org.in) between March to April month.
