RRB SO AFO Scale 2

Updated guide to IBPS RRB SO Agriculture Officer Scale II eligibility, age, qualification, experience, role, participating RRBs, salary and job profile.

IBPS RRB SO Agriculture Officer is a Scale-II Specialist Officer post in Regional Rural Banks. Scale-II is a manager-level officer cadre, so the exam expects two things together: agriculture knowledge and practical exposure to agriculture or rural finance work.

About IBPS And RRB SO

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts the Common Recruitment Process for Regional Rural Banks. Under CRP RRBs, Group A officer posts include Officer Scale-I, Officer Scale-II and Officer Scale-III. Agriculture Officer comes under Officer Scale-II Specialist Cadre.

For Agriculture Officer, there is no preliminary exam. Candidates appear directly for a single online examination, and shortlisted candidates are called for a common interview.

Educational Qualification

For Agriculture Officer, the candidate needs a bachelor's degree in one of these fields from a recognized university or equivalent, with minimum 50% marks in aggregate:

  • Agriculture
  • Horticulture
  • Dairy
  • Animal Husbandry
  • Forestry
  • Veterinary Science
  • Agricultural Engineering
  • Pisciculture

The result must be declared on or before the eligibility cut-off date mentioned in the notification. In CRP RRBs XIV, this date was 21 September 2025. IBPS later extended online registration to 28 September 2025, but the extension notice kept other notification terms unchanged, so candidates should not treat the extended form date as an automatic eligibility-date change.

Experience Requirement

RRB SO Agriculture Officer requires two years of post-qualification experience in the relevant field.

Relevant experience may include:

  • Agriculture officer work in banks or financial institutions
  • Agriculture loan, KCC, crop loan, dairy loan or allied-sector credit handling
  • Seed, fertilizer, pesticide, farm machinery, dairy, fisheries or agribusiness company work
  • Agriculture extension, FPO, cooperative, NGO or rural development project work
  • State agriculture department or agriculture university project work
  • Research, training or field advisory work related to agriculture

Keep appointment letters, relieving letters, salary proof, experience certificates and job-role descriptions ready. At interview, vague experience claims are risky; the certificate should clearly support the relevant agriculture field.

Local Language

RRBs are state-linked banks, so local language knowledge matters. Candidates should check the participating RRB and state language requirements in the notification. CRP RRBs XIV listed 28 participating RRBs after recent amalgamations.

Credit History

The notification asks candidates to maintain a healthy credit history at the time of joining. The minimum credit score is as per the policy of the allotted RRB and may be amended from time to time. Treat this seriously if you have overdue loans, credit card defaults or settlement history.

Vacancy Trend

Cycle Agriculture Officer vacancies
CRP RRBs XIII 2024 70
CRP RRBs XIV 2025-26 50

Vacancies can change until final allotment. IBPS calls them indicative because RRBs may revise requirements.

Job Profile

An Agriculture Officer in an RRB usually works on agriculture and allied-sector credit. Typical responsibilities include:

  • agriculture loan proposal appraisal
  • Kisan Credit Card and crop loan monitoring
  • dairy, fisheries, poultry, goatery, farm mechanization and allied loan follow-up
  • field visits and borrower verification
  • branch support for priority sector lending targets
  • NPA follow-up and recovery support
  • coordination with rural customers, government schemes and branch teams
